Dear Joan, DON'T SHOUT! (Caps indicate shouts,Joan!)

Are you looking for high price great food with a great view, medium price great food with a great view, lower price but great food with no view? More info is needed.

From what's been offered to you thus far, East End Cafe in Red Hook is the only place which I've heard rather good things about lately and I plan to check them out very soon. The previous owner had some major problems but that's now on my list as a place to go to (I'm also a restaurant owner but can't tout on a forum!)

Agave comes and goes depending on the chef comings and goings and their ratings fluctuate accordingly.

Molly Molone's. No comment. Whale of a Tale which is above Molly's, no comment. But lots of posters have enjoyed themselves there so check it out!

I recommend Banana Tree Grill at Bluebeards Castle. Formerly named Entre Nous, Liz and Jerry Buckalew changed the name of the place after hurricane Marilyn devastated their space. Their chef, Patrick, has been with Liz and Jerry through thick and thin for close to 20 years now It's a great spot for a truly romantic dinner overlooking the harbour with great service and great food at a reasonable price. I have never been disappointed there and we're talking a dining experience going on over 20 years.

Just my personal opinion but hope this helps,

I recommend you hit the Caps Lock key. It is to the left of the "a" key. Since you have typed the letter "a" multiple times in your post, I assume it will be fairly easy to find the Caps Lock key as well.

Good luck!

I do not have a lot of experience with the restaurants on STT but I highly recommend Banana Tree Grille. The food was very good, the view excellent and the service was impeccable.

I apologize for using the caps. I did not know that it meant "shout".

We are looking for great food first and great service, and if the view is there, that would be wonderful. Money is no object. I just want to go someplace real nice. And, by the way, sorry about the "caps".

Hi Joan,

Indigo at Magen's Bay Resort is excellent!!! Try it for lunch or dinner.

Lunch in particular, is a great value. Lunch for two (including a non-alcoholic beverage) will run somewhere around $20 to $25.

The food at Indigo is outstanding and the menu items are interesting and unique. If you can fit a visit to Indigo into your schedule (with all of the other excellent recommendations you already have), you will enjoy it for sure.

If you have room for desert after your great lunch or dinner, try the Brownie Crème Brulée -- YUM!!!

Have a great trip :)!!!

Banana Tree Grille, absolutly our fave. When you call for reservations request best view if possible. You can't beat overlooking Charlotte Amalie harbor with the cruise ships leaving at sunset.

Actually, I didn't LOVE Banana Tree Grille. Molly Malone's had rather poor service the day we went, and the food was cold when we got it. As I said before, I loved Virgilio's but also loved Craig and Sally's (amazing steaks), Room With a View (truly elegant), and though Banana tree was just okay.

We've been to St. Thomas 3 years running, and look forward to Craig & Sally's each year. Sally's lamb shank is amazing, and they've got a wine list a mile long. We're going back Feb '07

Last year, we celebrated my wife's birthday at Banana Tree Grille. Loved it, too! Owners were great to work with, I was able to reserve a table "on the rail". Dinner was served with style and meals were very tasty. Key Lime Pie was best we had all week (yes, we had Key Lime Pie at nearly every meal!).

Tried Hook, Line, and Sinker couple years ago. Not impressed. Mediocre service and food.

I enjoyed Oceana in Frenchtown (near CA). Great wine list, awesome view on the harbor, food was wonderful, and a very romantic setting. There were a couple of wedding and anniversary parties there.

I would add Cuzzin's for the best in local fare and Alexander's Bella Blu for a combo of all types of food!
