Hi again! Just can't believe it's time to come back to the islands. Less than one month!!!!

Any new updates on restaurants to avoid/ or can't miss?

How is the new Bella Blu on STT?

We are staying on ST John so looking for updates there as well.

Thanks as always -

A wanna be islander!!!

Hello PG, tried SImply Feast over on St. John recently for the first time and they had a nice selection of deli foods, breakfast eggs/bacon crossaints, lunch steak sandwiches. Not sure if they were there the last time you visited?

Blue Moon Cafe and Banana Tree Grill on St. Thomas are still favorites of mine.

Bella Blu has Mediterranean food, some people love it, meat-and-potato types seem not as crazy. The decor is great! There is a new place, Oceana, where the old Chart House and the Point at Villa Olga was. Haven't been yet, but Pat LaCorte, who has been a chef on St Thomas at many wonderful restaurants, is in the kitchen. Noche is newish, Santa Fe meets Frenchtown.

Try Tage in St. John. t is a new restaurant that was recommended to us by the concierge at Caneel Bay and we weren't disappointed. The food and the service was indredible.

Just got back yesterday (a report might follow later). Went to Simple Feast to shop and was impressed with the quality of the food. Great deli take out and the desserts looked wonderful. It's owned by the same person who owns Paradiso, Chateau Bordeaux, Asolare and Chole and Bernards. We don't eat out too often but did try the new Compass Rose in Pastory Gardens. Delightful setting, great view and music. The food was good and there was a good variety. I would stick with the lighter menu and not the entree of the day. That was fairly high considering the portion and the fact that it did not come with a piece of bread or a salad. The desserts were enormous. Wish that the waitress had told us this so that we could have shared. However, it was quite good. The owner has done some neat things with the minature golf course.

I tried a new place called Rhumb Lines by Duffy's and the food was quite good. Max the night manager was very friendly and gave us excellent service. Other than that, the Lime Inn and the Stone Terrace are my favorite STJ rests. My all time favorite though is good old uncle joes BBQ!! Best value on the island.

Tage is located in Cruz Bay up the road (away from the waterfront) from Woody's and Tapa. It is the where Zoe Zoe's used to be located.

Their web address is www.tagest.john.com. I don't know whether it has a complete menu.

They have Pan Seared Yellow Fin Tuna, Rosemary Garlic Grilled Lamb Loin Chops, Herb Grilled Mahi Mahi, and more. The desserts were fabulous.

Enjoy!!

I would like to do a shameless plug for the restaurant I work at.
Chloe and Bernards at the Westin.
Otherwise, Tage is good.
It is Ted's place. He was the long time chef at Paradiso and got his own place.
They are closed on Sunday. I actually worked for him for a short time a while ago and he does some really good food. His long time sous chef , Jaime, got promoted to head chef of Chateau Bordeaux in 2002 and has good food, also. Asolare is an Asian-Euro infusion restaurant and has the best sunset view on island, IMO. Banana Deck is more informal but also good. Otherwise, I do like Rumlyner(sp?), Stone Terrace, cafe roma, and the china shack.
