Good Morning!

We will be visiting in just a few weeks. I am looking for good restaurants for lunch (preferrably no fast food) that serve items such as salads, pastas, chicken. I was hoping to get restaurant suggestions from those who have been to STJ, STT, and/or STX. To give you an idea of where we will be to help narrow down any suggestions: we will be spending one day walking around Charlotte Amalie (thought we would eat at Hard Rock-but Ginger mentioned it is closed ??), another day going to Coral World and surrounding beaches, one day taking a self driving tour of STJ (north shore and beyond), another day doing "whatever" on STJ, and another day doing self driving Heritage Trail tour on STX.

Thanks!

SoCalGal,

I can offer my favorite lunch spots on St. Thomas. It's difficult to peg the "must" place because they're all good. In downtown, I think you're fortunate that Hard Rock is closed, as it will provide you with the opportunity to try out some other wonderful, less familiar places. I always have a hard time choosing between Gladys's, GreenHouse and Cuzzin's for lunch. I used to really like Cafe Amici, but haven't been there in a while. I also heard great things about Cafe Amalia (is that right?)

Several years ago I was really impressed with the food concession at Coral World. Very good lunch fare at an excellent price. However, Coki Beach, right next door, has wonderful food offered at the various establishments right on the beach. Try Uncle Buddies, for one.

I'll let others offer suggestions for their favorites on the other islands, as I've only taken day trips to St. John and have not YET been to St. Croix.

While you're at Coki Beach walk across the street to the opposite bay and you'll see Fungi's (at Point Pleasant Resort) on the other end of the cresent shaped beach. It's a great place for lunch.

On St. John, Lime Inn is a good place to go for the type of lunch you are looking for.

STX is 40 miles south of STJ/STT and accessible at this time of year only by plane or private boat. For most people, it is not a day trip.

That said, my personal preference for lunch is LaReine Chicken Shack.

Hi Linda,

We are taking a flight via Cape Air over and back on the same day. Taking the earliest flight in around 8 am and the latest out around 6 pm. We are hoping to do as much of the Heritage Trail driving tour as we can. Probably a bit over ambitious 🙂 to try to do in a day.

Thanks for the suggestion of LaReine Chicken Shack! Whereabouts is that on St. Croix?

Agree that it would be hard to do St. Croix in a day, but there are a number of good choices for lunch. In Christiansted there is Rumrunners (right on the water) and Cafe Christine (in historic Apothecary Courtyard). In Frederiksted Blue Moon is great. At Cane Bay there is the Cane Bay Beach Bar and Off the Wall.

So many restaurants, so little time - come back when you can stay a week - you still won't be able to see all the sights and eat at all the great places!

I'm not sure of the route of the Heritage Trail. LaReine is near Queen Mary's Highway - Centerline Road, just north of the farmers market, on the near west side.

But there are so many wonderful places to eat, you won't have any trouble finding one. You could also try Turtles in F'Sted or Changes in Latitute just north of F'sted. Get a map at the airport.

In STT there is a restaurant on a side alley attached to A.H.Rise.Can't remember the name but of the 2 weeks that we are there we always eat lunch there 3 times at least. Very good food, reasonabale prices.
