* Me and some friends were thinking of staying at wyndham sugar bay beach resort is that a good place? Know of any negatives about it? Sounds a bit pricey but is it worth the cost?

No it is not worth the cost. Stayed there last year and after the first night we found another place at 1/3 less the cost and much better.

I disagree with Judy. We just returned several days ago. We loved Sugar Bay!!! Perfect place if you need a vacation and need to relax. Three interconnecting pools, hot tub and lots of chaise lounges. Changing menus in the restaurants every night. Outstanding beverages. Great grilled foods. Beautiful grounds. Like most hotels, the downtown area is not close, but Red Hook is five minutes away. Activites if you have children. Not big on convention people. Nice guest rooms. Nightly entertainment. Movies every night - 7P for kids, 9P for adults. Tennis courts and work out area are way above average.

Hi Katie,

Part of your decision will depend on what you are looking for. The Wyndham is one of the few all inclusives on STT (I think the only true A/I there). As such, you get more for the dollar you spend since your food and beverages are included in the price. However, the down side is that you miss all of the great restaurants that are available on STT.

IMO, the grounds are nice as are the rooms. The beach is very average and I prefer rooms that are right on the beach.....these are not available at the Wyndham.

I've always viewed the place as being a cruise ship on land. While I wouldn't stay there myself, I have many friends who have and they thoroughly enjoyed it. I should add that they were used to staying at A/I's on other islands and were the type of visitor that didn't venture off the resort. I much prefer to explore STT and do so every time I am on-island.
