Just to save people time. I checked with over 5 rental car/jeep places on St John and they do not take reservations for a 1 day rental more than a few days before the day you need the vehicle. After the 5th place I checked, the guy at Courtesy Car Rental told me I was not going to find a place on St. John that would take a reservation for just one day. He said call them or stop in a day or two before you need the jeep. It is just the way they do it.

So I guess you need a little bit of luck that you pick the rental place that is not sold out for the day when you get there.

Taking our rental car over from St. Thomas on the car ferry for a one day trip was not going to save us money because we are staying on St. John later than the last car ferry. We would have to find and pay for overnight parking and the passenger ferry back and forth the next day. It is just not worth the hassel.

If anyone knows of a reliable car rental place on St. John that will take a one day reservation please let me know.

Scooby you were right!! Varlack- Ventures took a one day reservation for me. Thank you so much. I really didn't want to do the scooter. Varlack - Ventures also has a great web site with lots of info including a Cruz Bay map with 43 food related places dotted out.

Yes, they did give me a confirmation number and where very nice to talk to. I think she could tell I was excited. I'm sitting with 6 inches of new snow in Wisconsin counting down from 7 weeks 2 days. Have a great time and I look forward to your trip report!
