My daughter of 10 is a big fan of reptiles and amphibians. She asked me to ask you all how common are reptiles and amphibians on STJ? I'm sure she is looking forward to your replies. Thanks in advance!

Tell her iguanas are commonly found in the VI. They have daily iguana feedings at the Westin (around 4:00 if I remember right). You don't have to stay there to go to the feeding - just show up. She will love it.

And if she likes the little geckos tp chase around I'm sure you will see zillions. Escpecially if you are staying at a villa. If you don't find any she can chase all the ones at my house.

For Iguanas, look up in the trees at the very top which is where the go to get sun then fall asleep then come crashing down to the ground in the middle of the night when they lose their balance. Or look on the side of the road. I'm sure you will see some.

We saw a huge iguana at Cinnamon. He just came rushing out of the brush to eat something that was on the ground. It was very cool.

Also the Wyndham Sugar Bay has a very large iguana population with dailing feedings aroun 10:30 am. You can just show up (don't have to stay either). It's near the tennis courts.

In additio to iguanas and geckos, there are also hermit tree crabs. Check out the area around Salt Pond Bay (they tend to hang near the garbage dumpster). They are scavengers and will eat bits of just about any type of food.

If you want to plan on taking the ferry over to St. Thomas you may want to go to Coral World. They have daily talks and feedings for a variety of creatures. Here is there web site:
