I stayed 10 days on STT in August and went snorkeling at the various beaches on STT & STJ. I was advised by the locals to watch my teenage kids as they have a lot of drownings & they are not reported. Any truth to this or just a scare to the tourists?

Thanks

Not so. Someone was pulling your leg. Whenever someone drowns, t is always reported in the papers. They did give you good advice though, to be careful. There is undertow sometimes.
