Hi. You've helped me before on our many trips here. This time we have a dilemma. We are coming there by cruise ship as usual but this time we are going on Holland America instead of Princess like we do every year.

We always rent a car in Havensight at the place across the street there (Budget) because it is close by. We always take the car ferry over to Red Hook.

This time our cruise might dock at Crown Bay but they won't let us know. I know that I can check this website to see where they will dock but I don't know if that will be a 100 percent guarantee that we will dock there.

My Question:

We want to rent a car and go to St. John but since we won't know until we arrive whether we will be at Crown Bay or Havensight what should we do about a car rental?

If we dock at Crown Bay do we take a passenger ferry over to St. John and rent one there? Or do we still go to Havensight and rent a car and take the car ferry over? If so, who do I rent one from?

Thank you very much for your time.

Patty

My recomendation would be to rent your car on St. John.
The prices are fare and the people are friendly not to mention a good portion of the car rental companies are located very close to the farry dock.
If you have any porblems with the car on St. John the company is located right there on the island. Penns auto rental is one we've used in the past and we were pleased. www.conradcars.com is the company we plan on using this year and they are located right by the farry dock in Cruse Bay.

Hope this is of some help,

Billy

Thank you very much. I just hate to not know what dock we are going into but I think we will have to rent in St. John this time and take the passanger ferry over.

Now I just need to figure out about a cab over to the ferry from the dock.
