A couple of friends and I are coming back to the island in Oct. We are really interested in renting a home for a week. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Recommendations?

One of the best places to look for villa/condo rentals is
www.vrbo.com
I have used vrbo many times and loved it. Lots to choose from.
also, google villas st thomas, st john, etc.
some good villa sites I used are wimco, mclaughlin-anderson, home away, etc.
we rented a villa on stt from wimco and we are headed there TOMORROW. Yeah. 😀
:@)
Check out www.threepalmsvilla.com. We have stayed there twice and are going back again in January 2012. By far the most reasonable we have found and great view of St. John and Tortola. Ask for Spencer and tell him Ray Schultz referred you.
Hi, what island? if STX I have had great experience with Tom Pinchbeck at Calabash real estate 340-718-5285. If you tell him what you are looking for he will find something to fit your needs- he is great! will meet you at airport and take you to the house. ( he even stopped at grocery store with me once!) Renting a house is a great way to get a better feel for any island, neighborhood, ect. - I rented 4 times before I bought a place. Good luck!
If you are interested in a quiet private location take a look at http://www.slowmocean.com These properties are on Water Island--just off the coast of St Thomas. Easy to get to by public ferry.
I stayed at www.vrbo.com listing #265978 last year. Heaven! Beautiful property that is quiet with wonderful owners. Water Island is unique with a great "neighborhood" feel to it! I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back some day.
