Hello everyone, I have been lurking for a couple of weeks, my husband and I are going to be in St Thomas Feb 3-6th and are debating whether we should rent a car or just use a taxi. We are staying Frenchman's reef/Morning Star. We are planning on going into town for shopping, visiting a few beaches and a couple other activities off the resort. Which would you recommend? I have read some posts and have been scared by the taxi prices and just want to see if it would really be that expensive. Thanks for your help, and by the way it's freezing in Brownstown, Michigan today!!

Hello Sherri,

I'd say you could really go either way for a 4 day vacation - your costs via rental car or taxi will likely be about the same for a few beach trips and off resort activities. The rental car would allow you to really explore and see lots of the island easily, so definately a plus.

There is a ferry from Frenchman's Reef to town so you can use that for your shopping day. You might use the taxi rate sheets, provided on our site to figure out what your approximate taxi charges will be for the beaches/activities you plan on doing. At the top of this page click on St. Thomas and then choose Taxi Rates.

Thank you so much for your help. That is a great idea to look up the taxi rates.

If you are staying at Frenchmann does the ferry charge anything to take you to town? How late does this ferry run? Marriot website does not give much information about its resort in STT
