I'm trying to decide whether to rent a car or use the taxi service. I'm staying at the Marriott and plan on using the ferry service a couple days. If I decide to rent a car for just a couple of days is there a place close to the Marriott?

There is a budget rental car place in havensight. roundtrip to town from the marriot will cost $32. I stayed last week at the marriot and we rented a car for the whole week and it cost us 180 total. We rented from hertz at the airport. I would rent a car if I were you and if you plan on going into town to shop take the ferry, its cheaper, faster, and more scenic. There is plenty of parking in Havensight and the shops there are the same as you'll find in town. With a car you go at your own pace and its cheaper. Tune your radios to 96.1 Pirate radio in your car and hotel. Great tunes, everything from Marley, Grateful Dead, Phish, Hendrix, etc.

Thanks for the radio tip! I always have the hardest time finding the right station to listen to....Little things like this we take for granted. 🙂

96.1 and 104.3 The Buzz are the only 2 stations that I listen to. I spend more time on the Buzz now that Brian Daniels moved over from Pirate Radio. Pirate Radio seems to be going a little more harder edged these days. Could just be the DJ's taste, though.

The $32 that Ryan mentions is round trip for two passengers. Taxi service is 'per person' to your destination.

Highly recommend renting a car. Go to www.budget.com to get the best price ('STT' is the airport code).

Havensight has some of the same stores as downtown, but not all of them...or nearly as many of them. Plus the downtown experience is a little more 'authentic', as you stoll down alleyways that were built of bluebitch back in the early 1800's. Havensight is great if you know exactly what you want and just want to 'buy' it. For 'shopping', downtown is the way to go.
