Going to St. Thomas for my honeymoon in July for 12 days. Staying at the Ritz-Carlton, is it a good idea to rent a car, or is it better to use shuttles/buses and taxis.

What are the best companies to rent from? best prices?

Thanks,

Kevin

I would definitely rent a car if you plan on exploring the island. It will not only save you money but you'll be able to go where you want, when you want.
We rent our jeep from dependable car rental. http://www.dependablecar.com/
Great people and we have found their rates lower than Budget or Hertz.
We have also heard good things about Discount car rental http://www.discountautorental.com/ but haven't rented from them.
Hope this helps,
Bill

We have always rented from Dependable Car Rental and have always been very happy. They treat you more like family rather than just another cu$tomer. Have a great time and remember to "KEEP LEFT".

Definately rent a car. Taxi fares will add up fast. We rented from Budget and the rate was $203.00 for the week. If you use Expedia.com, the car will be at the airport when you arrive and you return it at the same place. If you are going to go bar hopping for an evening or two leave it at home and pay for the taxi service for the night. Its way too easy.
