I am an Allstate customer in Texas. Would my coverage cover me when renting a car in St Thomas? I normally don't get the insurance, but I have seen the drivers there and was wondering what is the best thing to do or if I am already covered?

Allstate may reimburse you (you'd have to check with them) but car rental agencies here will expect immediate payment for damage unless you purchase their insurance. Also, some credit card companies insure their members while in rental cars (when you use their card for the rental) and when something happens they'll reimburse the rental car agency. Lastly, if this is a big concern of yours I'd stick with the large international rental agencies as they MAY be more flexible about things if you do have a problem, which is unlikely.

Another consideration........my Amex Card provides me with full coverage (no deductible) for $19.95 for up to 42 days. To clarify...that's a one time $19.95 fee, not per day. But I need to use my Amex Card for the rental.
