What rental car agencies are in Stt? Is it best to reserve before you get there, or are there better "deals" waiting till you arrive? Better to use one at the airport, or off site? Should the "damage waiver" be purchased?

Recommend a reservation, and I always use Dependable Rent a Car. Great family run company.They are off airport but pick you up and you save the airport tax that the other car companies charge. We never get the waiver but our credit card covers us, suggest you check if yours offers that. Remember to drive on the left (just hug the curb).

We just got back this morning from our 12 days in St. Thomas. We have also always used Dependable Car Rental. Great people to deal with and I'd rather deal with a family operation than a corporation. Tell them Rick & Deb said hello if you call them. They have a web site.
