What is the difference between renting from the owner or one of the Managment companies. We found the villa we want on the owners web site. We contacted them to make a reservation. We later saw it on Vivavacations. We are a little nervous about sending a check to the owner. Is ther anything to be concerned about?

It really shouldn't matter from whom you rent, since you are ultimately renting from the owner anyway - the management company is essentially just acting as a broker. To use myself as an example, our villa is listed with several different websites and brokers, and we do accept reservations directly as well. Regardless of where you found us or where you send the check, it will be our local manager who will meet you on the dock, show you to the villa, and be on call during your stay. That's a pretty typical arrangement, but if you're concerned, just verify with the owner that you'll be receiving the same service as with one of the brokers.
