???
We rent a car (my wife and daughter like the airconditioning). Have yet to really find any place I could drive to with the car rather than a jeep but I'm sure they are around. http://www.dependablecar.com
What island are you going to? Well doesn't really matter I suppose. On all the islands that you can rent a car on St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John a car will do fine. I have driven on all three all over with a car and never had a problem. Only island that perhaps a jeep would have been more useful to explore further reaches of the island was St. John where there were two maybe three roads that at the time were dirt roads so difficult to manage with a car. On St. Thomas I can think of one road that I won't go down with my car but it isnt a popular place to go anyway. So in terms of navigating the island either is fine; a jeep isnt necessary in terms of the roads. Personal preference really. A car allows you to leave things in the trunk if thats a concern - like if you went shopping - put the bags in the trunk while you go do something else. If its a soft top jeep you don't really have that option, but you can take the top down so have the sun and breeze on you.
