Does anyone recommend renting your vehicle on STT vs. st. Johns?

It's because we are closer to the equator. We have less daylight in the summer and more in the winter.

Pia,
So do you have the priviledge of living on STJ? What restaurant (and it doesn't have to be fancy...just good food and wine) would you recommend for a 30th anniversary?

Here it is 🙂

Yes, I am sooo lucky that I live on St John and love it 🙂

Where are you staying (if you don't want to drive at night) so I can help what side of STJ to recommend that would be closer to your villa - but one of the first ones (although not cheap) is ZoZo's. Ask for a table on the railing for sunset and tell them it is your anniversary - it is in Cruz Bay and I would book - if you want a sunset railing table especially - about 1 week or so before you want to go.

Enjoy

We are staying at Calabash Cottages - Sago Cottage. So probably eating in Coral Bay would be best. What do you know about Bordeaux on top of the mountain? Pricey, I assume, but is it any good?

You are the luckiest person to live there. As we approach retirement, we contemplate a place in the warmth during winter months and our place in Colo. during the beautiful summers. We are beach/water people and being landlocked for 30 years has made us love our water vacations each year! We taught our kids to snorkel just out of diapers in the FLA keys at Grandma and Grandpas house!

You are very helpful!

Eagle,
I don't have a computer job so I'm kinda sporatic here.
The youtube isn't even close to the real thing. There are views all the way up.
We are repeats at Sweet Plantains. East and West Indian menu.
And yeah, you get alot of reading done on STJ and you are up early.
Gonna have a trip report?

"...you are up early"...yea have to be at work by 5:30 a.m.! Not usually up after darkness!

Perhaps you are fortunate to not be glued to a computer 24/7. My company has provided me a laptop and wireless to work from home...they get their monies worth out of me! Ah, retirement soon~

Thanks for the info. I showed the Youtube to my hubby with an old steering wheel in his hand! He laughed and laughed. The road is a typical Colo. Mt road. It's the 'stay to your left' that cracks us up on these island mtn roads! There seems to be plenty of pull offs for cars coming the other direction.

Ronnie, I can't remember exactly which year, but while we were visiting, there was an actual public flogging of a tourist in Cruz Bay Park. Obviously , take more serious than most of us think. Apparently they had added an 's while speaking to someone.

It is definitely a serious infraction.

Eagle---

Miss Lucy's is just down the hill ( in a manner of speaking) from where you'll be staying. It's not just the closest restaurant, it would also really be a fine place for an anniversary dinner.

For a bit more upscale-- a bit more of a drive, but without having to go to Cruz Bay--Chateau Bordeaux is a pretty rare experience. Good food and a really spectacular view. Need to get an early reservation to appreciate the view.

Chateaux Bordeau, the last time I was there, was wonderful and I would highly recommend it as an upscale restaurant for a special occasion, but again I think they have a new chef but I'm not 100%
Sweet Plantains is excellent but if you are not a fan of food with exotic spices (curries etc) I would not try it the first time for a special event but would definately eat there at least once on your trip - we love, love, love the food there.
Miss Lucy's is a great place - not fancy - but on the water if you ask for an outside table close to the water, and the food is also very good.

If you can wait a year, we'll have trip report. We'll be checking out Sweet Plantains for sure.
