Good news for the Virgin Island Renaissance Hotel has been sold to Inter Continenta.l The Hotel will carry the name of Crown Plaza. The Hotel is suppose to be going through a 40 million renovation and hopefully opening in February 2007.

I'm going to be staying at Point Pleasant in Jan 07. Just curious as how the Renaissance beach looks after 2 years of no activity. Will I still be able to use it or is it all over grown?
Thanks

Coconut Beach:

We own a condo at Point Pleasant and were there in September. The beach is fine. Although we prefer either the small Sugar Beach in front of the property or Coki Beach...a short walk past the Renaissance property.

I'm sure the new owners will be working to bring the property back into shape and the beach will receive the maintenance it once had. They are expecting a "soft" opening in February.

We'll be on-island in January as well. You made a great choice...Point Pleasant has (IMHO) the best location on the island....the views are incredible, especially if you have an upper unit.

We were at Point Pleasant in April and Pineapple Beach was fine. There weren't that many people there on that beach, which we actually liked. 😉 The Ren hotel looked like is was abandoned, as expected. Some parts of the property were corndoned off, and there was a "pit" near the sand. Looked like a waste dump..a bunch of wet "mush" in there. But that was closer to the grassy area. That part was a bit of an eyesore, but it didn't stick out at you really didn't notice it, because you face the other way..toward the water! We didn't mind it. Though we did like spending more time on Sugar Beach, like Future Islander said. And Coki. But honestly, we did spend quite a bit of time at Pineapple Beach. Enjoyed the small crabs scurrying around and the star fish in the water. 🙂 Don't worry about it at all.

Thanks for your help. I didn't realize Renaissance was even closed down. We've been to STT 3 times now. Twice to Point Pleasant and 1 to Elysian. Now our 4th trip we are getting married on Sugar beach, can't wait. I'm praying for no rain 🙂

Are there still condos available with Point Pleasant?
