Well I hate to say this because I was looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow night but I don't think that we will be able to make it. My husband got called into Chicago for work and won't be back in time. I would like to extend an olive branch though. I have a weekend home at Eagle Ridge Resort and would like to host a gathering some time in October when all of the leaves are changing and the scenery is breathtaking.

So sorry that we will be missing the party, I hope that everyone has a wonderful time and checks back with how everything went and posts a few pictures.

Well there is nothing to post because nobody showed up from either forum! We looked like a couple of losers that wanted to pretend they had friends! The restaurant had mad up cute individual drink menus for "our" table and everything! We enjoyed the drinks at least and the food was great!

2Beachbums,

So sorry that nobody showed up! I posted my message on Friday, maybe I should have sent a PM as well. I was truly looking forward to meeting you. Would you be up for a trip to the Galena area anytime soon like I had posted. There is a group of about 8 of us from the tristate area that all love the islands. Would you be willing to try to get together again in your neighborhood or mine?

Yes, we are still up for a meeting. We were just suprised that not one couple showed! Life goes on and we all need a humbling experience every now and then to keep us on our toes! I think this time I would not plan it ahead of time with the meeting place and just bring drink recipes and hope they have what we need!

All is good 🙂

Hi 2beachbums,

First, thanks for answering my PM! My husband has to go to Dodgeville this week to meet with an engineering company, I thought that it might be funny if we showed up at "The Rock Bar and Grill" in Beloit and asked for the special table with the Caribbean drinks menu and that the referral came 3 thousand miles away and while we were in town we should just check out the drinks just to compare.

You are not a loser and never will be one. You have the initiative to travel to exotic places and are willing to meet strangers in a local bar. Sounds like a winner to me!

You are great and thanks again for the PM.

Molly

2beachbums: I am really SO sorry that nobody showed up but unfortunately it happens here too - there was a gathering at Molly Molone's a few weeks back where the same thing happened and only one couple apparently showed up after loads had said they were coming. I don't know what to make of it really but it certainly rattles me!

Fortunately we did have a very nice evening at The Toad and Tart for Gerie and a bunch of others a couple of weeks ago and it was very well-attended and enjoyed. I don't know how to post pics but sent them to Gerie so maybe she can figure it all out.

Anyway, I hope that your next gathering, whether it takes place on or off island is better attended - and until you can get back here we'll keep the Trade winds blowing and the sea blue. Cheers!

I've been to a few gatherings at theToad and Tart and it is always great fun. It is always nice to step out of the box and meet new people. I did get the opportunity to meet another couple from this forum in town here in Iowa a few weeks back. We had a few drinks and talked and laughed about all of our island experiences, it was really nice. Last year we were fortunate to be on island for over 3 months while we were renovating our unit, but unfortunately we won't be back until January for our anual meeting. When the time gets closer maybe I'll see if we are lucky enough that Anna might want to host another gathering.

Cheers!

The Tart outdid herself yet again for our gathering, putting out a delicious array of treats and providing a lovely site for gathering. Unfortunately she was so busy playing hostess she didn't get to join us. I missed the opportunity for a chat. It was great to see and catch up with old friends and to meet some folks I haven't met before. I hope we'll be new friends. STT Resident did send me pictures, but I don't have everyone's permission to post them so I won't. If you were there and would like me to send you the pictures, send me a pm with your e-mail address.

2beachbums, just as you had no shows at your long awaited gathering, there were many who didn't get to the Toad and Tart who signed up to do so. I think that just happens with the anonymity of the internet. You are certainly more than welcome to join our gatherings anytime.

2beachbums,

The invitation is still open to meet my husband and myself, our two best friends and possibly 3 other couples from our neck of the woods in the exclusice Eagle Ridge area We are members so everything such as golf, accomodations and even a few meals are all free, we'd love to meet you. I even ran into jimbob at kmart today, My husband and I were fortunate enough to meet him and his wife a few weeks ago locally. We met on this forum, what a small world.

I know that this is still rambling but I did have to give Kmart of all places a plug today. They doubled coupons meaning that if you had a coupon for $1.00 they would double it and take $2.00 off at the register with just that one coupon. I pulled out my coupon organizer and ended up spending $16 for $170 in products! No kidding, for example if you had a coupon for windex for $1.00 off it doubled it to $2.00 and the total product locally cost $2.19. That means that I only paid .19 for the Windex, Hooray!

So according to my math I already have $154.00 for free tickets back to the Islands.

Have a great night everyone

Yes, I would like to know how that travel ticker works too! And then I would just need a trip to count down to! LOL Oh well I can dream, right............Our first time to STT was in June for my daughter's wedding ( I am sure that many of you have read my numerous posts about it) And now I keep signing into this site, just to hear about the islands! I hope we can return some day for another wonderful trip! 🙂

🙂 Nancy
