We rented a car while we're in STT.Are there any hidden beaches that maybe some people have not seen.
There are something like 43 beaches here on STT, but most visitors don't take the time to try to access some of the more secluded/hard to reach beaches due to their limited time on island. Plus, trying to give directions to places like Stumpy or Sunsi isn't the easiest thing to do even with people that live here! Haha!
See, we always enjoy coki and meagan's Iwanted to take the family to some more secluded beachs we will be there for 7 nights,is it possible from a good map to get to any of the beaches you've mentioned? We ALWAYS rent cars we love to explore.
Thanks again for your help Marty
Matt
You might try Hull Bay, a little west of Megans. Maybe Marty oor someone can tell us if the bar/restaurant there is stll open. I think I heard that it had closed. Hull Bay is really a local's spot off the tourist trail unless things have changed since I was last there.
I haven't looked at a map in a few years, but I think they would probably be on them...Stumpy is West of Hull, which is West of Magens. If you are driving a car, you will need to park and walk down. If you have a Jeep, you can drive all the way down and back up...just not in a car. Sunsi is West of Coki. Go thru the two stone gate-towers that say "Estate" on the left one and "Harmony" on the right one. 2 lefts and a right at the T's. You will have to hike down a trail about 500 yards after you park at the wide spot in the dirt road. Go thru the ripped apart chain-link fence and just follow the trail. And, yep, Hull Bay Hideaway is still there. It used to be "Larry's", but he has sold it, so that is why it was closed a while back. But she's open again. Easy to find on a map. Try to find Platform and Little Magens, too. Out Peterborg, stay to the left and look down the drives that go off and down to the left. At the end (they dead-end),park and walk down the trail. Nice little beaches. One caveat, though...you may see unclothed people here. Have fun!
Hello,
Check out the beach guide for St. Thomas on this site; use the drop down menus at the top of this page. There are 20 beaches listed for St. Thomas - a couple are off the beaten path - 20 is definately enough to keep you covered for 7 days. 😉 Another off the beaten path beach is Neltjeberg, better to hike there from Dorothea Bay then to try the road, in my opinion; although I haven't been on the trail for a bit so I don't know if its clear or not - I've also hiked/climbed along the rocks. You can head over to Water Island for a day and visit the beaches there.
Marty - have you been to Sunsi lately? I had heard the owners of the property the path runs through put up a fence with dogs + guard inside the fenced area. This was maybe last year I heard this.
The beach next to Compass Point Marina with the restaurant ruins is always deserted and it looks like they have done a GREAT job cleaning it up recently. Anyone know what the plans are for this site? Finally you don't have to walk through ruins to get to this gorgeous beach.
Islander-
Yeah, I've been to Sunsi since they put up the fence. It appears that people didn't like the fence and cut thru it, and, since all beaches are public and must have a causeway, there isn't much they can do about it. Even the Ritz has to allow you on their beach! Haha!
Stu-
Are you talking about Scott Beach? Before you get to Compass Point? After you turn off the main road, of course, but on the left as the road curves to the right as you're heading into Compass Point?
Stu: An EDC company bought Scott Beach/For the Birds and Compass Point. I am sure you can imagine the type of plans they have for the area. Think marina/offices/condos, etc.
Yeah I am talking about Scott Beach, I like the name 😉
Hopefully this is the EDC company's donation to the VI and is restoring it to it original beauty to donate back to the VI Government. Wishful thinking. Ok maybe I can get a slip there soon... lol
