I have made reservations to take the reef bay with my family ( two boys ages 15 and 11. Has anyone done the ranger led hike ? any reviews?

Hi Deb
My hubby and I did the hike in Feb. when we were there. It is a lot of fun. We did not go with the rangers and wished we had after it was over. (We were afraid we would slow everyone down...being somewhat out of shape...lol). Be sure to go to the ritual pool with the petroglyphs... it is awesome! Be sure to read up on the subject first...it is very interesting if you like history. We saw several mongoose (geese???) on the walk. It is mostly downhill on the way in....UPhill on the way out, but we did it in about 1 1/2 - 2 hours total. (We were proud of ourselves...lol). Have fun!

While we did not take the guided tour we did hike through Reef Bay to the Petroglyphs and Sugar Plantation. Both are worth the trip and I understand the views from the hike down are even better. Make sure you bring water and use your bug repellant. Check to see if you have some time to swim or better yet snorkel in Genti Bay at the end of the hike. It might be more hassle than you want to carry gear, but the snorkelng is great and the beach is isolated so you're very alone (much like many of the beaches).

Two great things about the ranger-guided tour: 1. They are a wealth of information and will stop at each interesting tree, animal or ruin and explain it, 2. You don't have to walk back up! You get a wonderful boat ride back to Cruz Bay. It is on my top 10 Things to Do with Visitors list.

East Ender: What are the other 9 things on your list? I have a buddy visiting this week and would love to hear your picks.
