We have rented a home on the North side of the island in a gated community (Red Rock) and wanted to know if anyone could give us insight on that neighborhood and how far beaches and grocers are far from there. Thanks in advance for any information.

Hello Annmarie,

Red Rock Rd. is in Peterborg - beautiful area, wonderful views, quiet neighborhood - great! The closest beaches wil be the little ones along the Peterborg Penisula - accesiable by walking depending on where your villa is or a short drive and walk (these little beaches go by different names, Little Magens, Platform ect) The closest "main" beach is Magens Bay - a short drive - maybe 5 minutes. Grocery stores - the closest convience store is Mandahl Market (maybe 8-10 minutes from you leaving your villa and getting to the Market Parking lot) and the closest large grocery store is in Tutu - Plaza Extra, Cost U Less, K-mart are in that area, Maybe 15-18 minute drive, longer with traffic.

I have only seen the pictures from our real estate company (Calypso) and it looks as though the house we have rented is on a cliff looking toward Hans Lollick. The pictures look great, but you never know until you get somewhere. This is not our first visit to St. Thomas, but it is the first time we have stayed on the island and are looking forward to spending time at Magens Bay. We are beach people, is this the beach that you recommend? How about a fun place (music and drinks) to unwind?

AnnMarie, I think we will be staying in the villa you mentioned in your post. It's called Oceans edge I think. Did you like it? how was the villa and the view?
