Dear Sir/Madam:

My family & I will be vacationing in St. johm from June 7th - 17th. We have been there many times and would like to get a private taxi to take us to the ferry so we do not have to wait around at the airport.

Any suggestion would be helpful..

Best regards,

Edward

Hello Edward,

When you get to the airport just tell the drivers you want a private taxi and that you want to leave now. They will charge you extra. There are pretty much always taxis at the airport. Or did you want to prearrange a taxi to come meet you there?

We (4) are coming in at 9:30 PM flight STT on Cape Air (small plane) and do not expect too many taxis hanging around that time of night. Am I better off 'reserving' a taxi? If yes, how is it done?

Thanks

Chris, the taxis wait there until the last flight comes in. If coming on Cape Air, you will have to walk over to the other baggage claim to get one. I believe a private taxi to Red Hook is $60.

Safaris don't frequent the airport.

Hello Yolanda,

The safaris either are the $1 safaris that run the public bus routes or the taxi safaris that generally work the cruise ship folks. At the airport you will find mostly enclosed taxi vans and some mini vans/cars. It would be around $9-$10 a person from the Airport to Red Hook if you were in a shared taxi (the taxi driver will wait for other people also going to Red Hook in order to fill up his/her van). If you want a private taxi Ronnie quessed around $60 in the above post. The taxis charge for bags from $1-$4 depending on size, the first one should be free and then a charge for each addtional. Make sure to get the agreed price for everything (you, kids, bags, whatever) before boarding.

Yolanda, I wouldn't hesitate to take the regular taxi to Red Hook. Ther e should be hardly any waiting time at that time. There are a great number of people going to ST. John coming in, so a diect tax should be easy. Freddie charges $25 for one person, one way. So, your choices range from around $10 up to $60! You could also just go to the downtown ferry for $4 or $5 and take it from there! There are limosine services available too! What is it that you need?

We used dynamic tours for the first time last year, and it went very well. The driver was every nice, and he made a great effort to get us to Red Hook for the 4 pm (?) ferry and we did make it! It was a lot better than having to stop at every resort. And we were the only passengers to Red Hook on that trip. And they picked us up on our way home. Worth a phone call anyway.
