I just want to offer one piece of advice: never fly American Eagle during the Xmas season if you can help it!! Here was my adventure yesterday:

I flew from Providence to New York-La Guardia, then from La Guardia to San Juan on US Airways. I then transferred to American Eagle in San Juan and learned my 3:30 flight to St. Croix was canceled! Apparently, something wasn't working on the plane, and I can't fault them for that. They could not provide us with another plane for the route, and all the other flights were booked, even on the other airlines. It appeared as if the only solution would be to use an American Eagle voucher for a hotel stay and leave the next morning, which I did NOT want to do.

Fed up with being in San Juan for six hours, I finally asked them to put me on a flight to St. Thomas so that I could take the Fast Ferry over to St. Croix. They agreed, and although they didn't reimburse me for the ferry, I was able to reach St. Croix at 10 pm (although I was originally supposed to arrive at 4).

My point is this: do not fly American Eagle during Christmas season. Although they cannot be faulted for equipment problems or heavy traffic, it would be more convenient as a traveler to take another airline that does not have so much heavy traffic, cancelations and delays. Just my two cents.

on 12/18/04, our AE flite from stt to san juan was cancelled only 20 min prior to departure; no reason given. i wound up actually going out on the tarmac myself with an AE agent to remove our bags from the baggage cart to make sure they got on the correct plane some 2 hours after our scheduled departure. of course we missed our san juan connection to dallas as a result. there were several other delayed AE flites in addition to ours; no reasons given. the stt airport was essentially chaos for about 5 hours last saturday.
our previous trip to stt, the airport was completely evacuated just as we were getting ready to b oard our flight because some jet fuel was spilled adjacent to the terminal during refueling of a plane.
you definitely have to be "flexible" to fly in/out of stt!
