it will show rain everyday no matter what time of year, usually. It is the tropics and that is a normal forecast.

Do not look at the forecast. get to the island and see for yourself. Our forecast showed rain everyday, too. we got a little rain one day and the other day it rained on one side of the island and not the other.

May is normally rainier than other months, but again, I would not worry about it until you get there. It is rare for it to rain for a week straight.

so lets just say that it going to rain each day (which it will not). What would you different today? Cancell your vacation? Cry yourself to sleep? Get with the island life. Get there and adjust to whatever happens!

Have a great time.

A couple on another travel forum were also posing the endless weather question earlier this week, noting that all the weather forecasts they could find were predicting 40% chance of rain next week and cloudy skies. Many posters responded telling them that this sort of forecast was quite normal and there was nothing to worry about. The couple at the same time sent me a private message asking the same question and I also gave them the stock response, long detailed version :D!

I received a private message from them yesterday thanking me for the information but advising that they had decided not to come here after all because they didn't want to take the chance of a week's vacation spent under rain and cloudy skies. I wrote back telling them I was sorry to hear of their decision but that there were several local webcams they could check out next week so they could see what they were missing ...

I was in stj in April and the weather said the same exact same thing, there was even talk of a cold front sweeping across the area. Of all my trips down it was more humid than ever and the whole time we were there it rained maybe for 5 min. I guess my point is don't let it ruin any of your plans.

Extended forecasts are worth crap wherever you live! The forecasts are only good for about a day and sometimes they screw that up..lol.

Now I am sure rain is a welcome thing, hasn't it been dry or has everything been greening up again?

By the way we are comin this Saturday too!!! Come rain or shine, baby! 😎

My wife and I would continually joke every time the radio forecast would come on. We look at each other and repeat after me "Partly cloudy, 20% chance of scattered showers" No lie every single day the two weeks we were there in April. Total rainfall, much to the dismay of locals relying on cisterns, was 15 minutes one afternoon and a good 1 hour brief shower late at night. Really thin they don't need weathermen (or at least can pre-record it) until hurricane season starts.

30% chance of rain = 70% chance of sunshine

I like the odds

What about when it is 60% chance of rain, does it usually fall under the same rule (short periods of rainfall)? Normally I would not worry about something like this, but we are getting married in STT next Thursday, and I am just feeling out what to expect. 🙂 Thanks everyone!

Just got back from 10 days in USVI. One day (Sun?) it rained from dawn 'till 2:30 pm on STJ. Otherwise, it sprinkled once or twice but that's it. Although it looks cloudy the sun always seemed to shine and brief cloud shadows were welcomed. We used up all of our sunscreen and I've got a white stripe across my wrist where I usually wear my watch.

Just got back from STX last night. The only day that was really rainy was yesterday and it depended on what part of the island you were on. The south shore seemed to be hit the hardest while just going north of F'sted was dry. Most of the rain we had for 11 days was late at night and only briefly.
Even our two days on STT were dry except for last Thur. night/ Fri. AM. By 10AM it was dry.
I've found this to be just typical island weather. Much ado about nothing.
