I was just wondering if St. Thomas was similar to other tropical destinations in that when the weather reports say "scattered showers, etc..or partly cloudy....." does that mean that rain isn't very likely to be where you are?
Usually when I'm on vacation I hear the word scattered showers and partly cloudy and I just expect it to be so scattered and rare that it won't effect my day. If it does rain where I am, it will only last for an hour or so. It's like this in South Florida for example. I was just wondering if this is what it is like in St. Thomas.
thanks so much.
Yes in the USVI when it says partly cloudly... it probally won't rain at all 🙂 lol. Scattered showers you might get a couple rain showers in the early morning and then sporidically during the day. No it does not effect your day greatly but becomes a bit of a nussuice if you are on the beach reading abook for example and your towel in now really wet, your things, maybe your book and then the sun comes right out again. When it does rain, really rain in the USVI then it rains all day long. Not very often, most often in September/October as these are times when we get more tropical storms in the Caribbean area.

We were there the last week of February. Had one day of rain. It rained hard enough and long enough that we needed to seek shelter, it stopped, we laid out and it started again. Was like that the entire afternoon. Very annoying! Your best bet if you get caught is to take a dessert break. We had some wonderful pecan pie!
Robert is right... exactly what I meant when I said it becomes annoying... it rains you think its done so you lay out then it rains again then it stops... over and over - thus scattered showers... scattered through out the day 🙂
