If you look at the forcast for the next 10 days it predicts cloudy and 40% for 4 days and cloudy and 60% for the next 6 days. Is this normal? I just assumed the sun to be shining
there. Any locals shed some light on this.
Thanks
I would recommend that you not worry about the weather. Why? Because here in the USVI it is really true that 30% showers really means 70% sunshine and you embrace that. Why? Because it showers and gets it over with and you get on with your great day here in paradise.
I just checked the weather.com site and I see it's now 50%....so between when you looked and now, Monday night - it has changed.

Please look forward to your visit, duck between the raindrops, you'll dry out and the sun will come out and smile on you.
And remember that it is typical for the rain to come during the night..while you sleep. But, that will still show up on a weather forecast as rain.
Stop watching the weather for the USVI. It ALWAYS calls for rain....and I have been going for 30 years (yikes! LOL - I'm not 40 yet...I started going at a very young age:)
Thanks for the courtesy of your reply.
Hello Steve,
Check out https://www.vinow.com/usvi/weather.php
There is a table with average rain fall by month. While Oct, Nov, Sept, Aug are the rainier months... May is next. We have had cloudy weather today, yesterday... brief on and off showers in some areas of the island (St. Thomas) and sunshine.
Generally we don't have all day rain storms unless there is in fact a storm in the area, not often. Our rain showers are showers - usually early in the morning or off and on during the day for a few minutes. The off and on rain showers, if numerous/frequent, are annoying if you are on the beach or out shopping in town.
There are typically many more days in May that are low 80's with bright sunshine rather then days with rain. We often get early morning rain showers so the weather reports relect this. It has been cloudy the last couple days though like the weather reports state so there is some accuracy there.

I. like Steve, am set to arrive in the next few days and have been checking the forecast which isn't very promising. Although I have had the experience of being in St. Thomas for the past two Mays with gorgeous weather, I have to say I am nervous about this trip. I appreciate the replies you all posted and guess I'll stop worrying. Rain or shine, it's paradise!
