We are looking for a hotel/resort on a gorgeous beach to spend the first week of June, with my family.

We can rent cottage or a condo. Preferably looking for condo rentals, the most important aspect is blue, clear water where we can do boating or scuba. Going out of the country won't work for this trip, unfortunately.

Can we find this kind of water in the Keys? We know nothing about Florida, and are getting confused with all the Keys. Or should we consider somewhere else?

We would also like easy day-trips to see historic areas, natural wonders, nice restaurants, etc. Don't want a string of high-rise resorts lined up along a beach.

One of my friend suggested me to opt for findrentals dot com I would prefer for your advices so that I can plan according to it. And everything will be in budget also.

The Keys aren't in the USVI and this is a VI travel forum.

Check out Cape San Blas. Although I haven't been there, I've planned a trip for this year. It's in Florida but not in the Keys. Apparently it does have a beautiful beach and is not commercialized with high rises, etc.

Here's a lead: http://www.capesanblas.com/

We spent a week on Anna Maria island last year. The water is more greenish blue, but very pretty and warm. We loved the island. It's small and easy to get around. We rented a car, but there is a free trolley that will take you all over the island.

All the beaches were very nice, I think it's just one big beach with different names. Holmes Beach is beautiful.
Have a great vacation!

Denise

If you are looking for a beach destination you will be VERY DISAPPOINTED with the Keys! I would go on the Gulf of Mexico side of Florida! We have been to the Destin area and the Clearwater area. Nice beaches & emerald waters.
