I faxed my reservation sheet 2 days ago. I just called St. John Car Rental and they said they won't process reservacation paper untill the end of this week.
Is this normal? Is there any car company that would provide more promptly and friendly service on St. John?
Please advise....

This is not unique although some may perform more to your liking. Unless you are arriving this Friday, what's the rush? It's island time and you need to be prepared for that pace. Don't fight it, except it for what it is and relax.
We use Conrad Sutton - always a quick response from them.
I am using Conrad Sutton as well. I have been waiting for two weeks for the reservation information that was supposed to be e-mailed to me. I realize this is island time -- but I am a city girl and just wanted all of this paperwork wrapped up so I can look forward to the trip -- can't wait. This will be my 4th trip to St. John.
we just reserved with Conrad's and had our email reservation the next day, maybe you should call them.
I had my reservation from Conrad Sutton the same day. The rental company that has still not sent me anything after 2 weeks was St. John Car Rental. Sorry for the confusion.
I called St. John Car Rental yesterday, a week after I had faxed over the reservation form. I finally have the answer that they put me in the book. But they won't fax out confirmation until close to my vacation date which would be in May. I feel this booking process is like dropping a rock into the ocean.
I don't know why the car rental company make me feel uncomfortable. I made reservation with the windwardsailor, too. It was so casual. 10 minutes talking with Capt Heinz and the reservation was done. Though the reservation was for more than 3 month away, I felt he was dependable.
I think I might try Conrad Sutton, too. Thanks for the suggestions!!
I had great luck with them my last visit. I'm traveling in June and called two weeks ago about renting a 5 passenger SUV and they were all booked up. I ended up going with Cool Breeze but would have liked to stay with St. John Car rental.
Ahhhh....welcome to the Virgin Islands. Don't panic...SOMEONE always has a rental available on the island. If you call and they actually have your information written down somewhere, you're pretty much good to go. It might not hurt to do a last-minute check the week before you leave to ensure everything is still in place. Also, if you are renting a villa, most property management companies will arrange your car rental for you. If you're having any trouble, just talk to the hotel concierge or the property management company. They are great resources for things like this!!!
