I am planning to come to St Thomas/St John for Thanksgiving. I want to attend the women's basketball games. Tennessee is playing in the St John region. Can anyone tell me if that means the games are actually played there or are they on St Thomas? Also, if you fly into St Thomas do the hotels on St John provide any type of shuttle service to St John? I know these may be ignorant questions but I have never travelled to this area. Thanks.

They are playing in St.John? Or a St.John's University in New York?
Either way you should come to the islands mon.

I believe this is the Paradise Jam tournament and it is held at the University of VI on STT. STJ does not have facilities for that event. STJ hotels will not provide shuttles specific to the tournament.

I'll be going, too! I believe all the games are in St.Thomas at UVI. I work part time with the team at Maryland and we're in the St.John side as well. We're actually going with some Tennessee fans that are our friends.

I just booked our hotel today. But these airfares are KILLING me!!! Have you had any luck? Everything from the Washington,DC/Baltimore area is around $700!

Anyone have any tips on when to book flights for Thanksgiving Week??? Do these prices ever drop?

If you want to discuss anything else about the tourney/trip, feel free to email me at [email protected] .

Thanks!
Erin 🙂

You are traveling during a very popular time so rates will be against you. US Airways tends to lower their rates when they need cash and AA also moves later in the year so keep looking every now and then. Unfortunately, the airline business is transforming as we speak so all of the historical patterns are not as reliable as they once were.

Regarding airfare, If you want to send me your orriginating city I can keep my eyes open for a drop in rates. As You can get the same rate I get as an agent (i just can get them a little sooner I think) I will let you know when a good rate comes through and you can book it. If I book it I have 2 charge a $25.00 agent fee so best you do it yourself. 🙂 On a very rare occasion I do get Agency only rates that I have to book, but again thats rare..lol..
Also, if there are lots of you going and you "Block" a group of rooms you can usually get a better rate.

If you stay at the Westin or Caneel Bay, they have ferries that come over to St. Thomas regularly, if you are included in that plan. Thye don't travel at night though in case games end late. The Westin ferry comes to Crown Bay which is closer to the gym than the waterfront apron where Caneel drops off.

The tournament has two brackets of teams... One called St. John Division (which will feature a re-match of the Final Four game between Tennessee and Michigan State -- the tournament also includes Maryland and Gonzaga). The St. Thomas bracket includes Minnesota, Virginia, Alabama and Nevada.

Games will end too late for guests to the islands to take a ferry back to St. John.

All of the games are played on St. Thomas at UVI.
