We are looking for a four night stay on St John to extend our VI trip in June. We just learned about Grande Bay, a new condo complex on the waterfront in Cruz Bay.
1. Is there still noisy construction going on at this site or is it complete?
2. Has landscaping been installed or just a lot of dirt and rocks on the site?

There are several units being rented on vrbo.com but with the whole place being so new, maybe we should be somewhere more established.

I have not been a Grande Bay guest nor am I affiliated with Grande Bay..

For such a short stay on St. John, this might be a good spot because it is right in town and a short walk to restaurants and the taxi stand. There isn't a lot of construction noise as of late. And definitely not a bunch of rocks and dirt as the entire area is concrete. I don't even see how they are going to landscape... I know several people who have stayed there and liked it. If your stay was longer, or if you have been here before, I'd say get a villa....but this might be a good place to start. (or Gallows Point, just down the road)

We just left Grande Bay this week, and loved the place we rented and being so close to Cruz Bay was a big plus. As for the construction noise -- very little; a hammer or saw every now and then. The landscaping looks as though it is complete and the pool area was great. We will consider this property again on our next trip.

I want to thank everyone for their responses to this thread, as well as the the original poster for the question. I needed a decent place to stay at a reasonable price for 2 nights only prior to a 4-night package at Caneel Bay. I had booked a hotel on St. Thomas but preferred St. John. After the heads up, I went to vrbo.com and found an owner who had a 2-night hole to fill and agreed to let me rent at a nice price.

Looking forward to our vacation!
