I have been pricing flights and have found some fairly reasonable ones thru US airways. Has anyone had good/bad experiences with this airline? I have never flown before so don't know anything about any airlines. Any info would be greatly appreciated! 😉
US Airways has a new 1 passenger, 1 suitcase policy. That may be why they've dropped their rate. I've flown US Airways down there several times. They treat everyone like cattle, but all the airlines do these days.
as far as I know the suitcase policy does not start until May
USAir has been as good as the others, in our experience. The key is to do direct flights and carry-on, if possible.

Try to not fly through philly on them
I certainly agree with the comment about Phili. Avoid it at all costs. We have always seemed to have a problem anytime we do a lay over there. Much better luck using any other airport for a lay over. But USAir has always treated us well on our trips to St Thomas. And we try not to pack too much anyway. After all how many tee shirts, shorts and bathing suits does one need for a week or two.
Does anyone know the rules for the size of carry -on? Thnx
bkeefe1,
The rules vary by airline according to the TSA:

Rules for some commonly used airlines for USVI:
Delta

Have a great visit!

Rules do vary by airline as Mntn Rnnr pointed out. If you haven't checked with your airline, a fairly good rule of thumb is to add the length, width and height of your luggage. If it's 45" or less, you're generally ok for most overhead bins. Some of the inter-island and regional planes are much smaller and carryon for those means that you leave the luggage out on the tarmac before you go up the stairs and get it when you come back down. Still easier and quicker than checking it and going to baggage claim.
