Hello,
I will be moving to St. Thomas in April and plan to stay for about 4-6 months. We are not planning to have a car and have had trouble finding specific information on the Safari and Public buses that serve St. Thomas. We are currently looking for a rental unit and want to make sure we live somewhere within walking distance to where we can catch a bus. If anyone has route maps, advice, tips, etc. they can share we would really appreciate it!
We are coming from Chicago where we are used to waiting a long time for a bus and usually walk long distances to our destination, so we are prepared (and will have time) to get around by bus vs. a car- we just want to make sure we make a good choice in where we live.
Thank you VERY much!
kayers: I recommend that you check out the relocation board (click above right) for information on living in the VI. You do know that the safaris don't run at night? So if you don't have a car, you will be limited in your night time activities.
Thank you! I will look at the relocation board!
Also, in my 11 years here, I have never actually been ON a safari or VITRAN us....cuz I never know when they are coming, where they are going, or IF they are even runing when I ever need them! You may have better luck hitching than waiting for the VITRAN or dollar buses...let us know what you find out, OK?
