Hi there. My husband and I are brand new to the island and are house hunting. We came across a property recently with a propane dryer and was told by the real estate agent that this will more cost effective than an electric dryer with propane tanks costing around $82/tank. Obviously we are well aware of WAPA and are looking to save where we can but have never used a propane dryer before and would love any advice or suggestions on the topic.
Also, any pros/cons about living on the northside close to Sibs are welcome as well 🙂 Thank you in advance!
This question would be better addressed on the relocation forum but there is no question that a propane dryer is way more cost effective than an electric. It's really a no-brainer. Line drying is best but gas drying is next! And a gas stove is the stove of choice too for the same reason. The more you can avoid using electricity the better and thus the North side will suit you better in this respect. An almost 30 year resident, I've lived on the south side, in Smith Bay (country) and now on the North side and love it here. The higher the better to catch the breezes and I don't need A/C at any time of the year. Oh, and if you're a senior citizen, get your senior card at the Human Services office and you get a nice reduction on the price of a tank of gas!
Why do you use a dryer hang your clothes out it is cheaper!!
