My wife are heading to St John for the first time in May. Have been going to Grand Cayman for the past few years and want to try someplace else. My question. Is there a ferry that leave from Amalie? If so, how much would a ball park figure be to get a taxi to there. I would rather spend time on the water than in the back of a cab. Thanks

The ferry service between Charlotte Amalie and St John is less frequent than that between Red Hook and St John so it depends on what time your flight arrives which one you would take. wxhsbnd, a taxi from the airport to the area the St. John ferry leaves from in Charlotte Amalie is $6 pp, ow plus luggage fees. A flat rate of $2 per bag shall be added to the fare for each passenger. The rate for items greater than 30"x20" shall not exceed $4 per item. The pp rate is in a shared taxi. As the original poster mentioned taxis at the airport wait to fill with people going in the same direction before heading off. If you wanted a private taxi, from airport to town/Charlotte Amalie it is $55 for 1-4 passengers, (5 or more passengers add $7 for each additional person).
