Hi,
I'm looking for a private snorkeling tour in St. Croix. Due to religious reasons, I'd like to go with just me, wife and tour guide.

Tour would go to snorkeling sites that are relatively uncrowded. Is such thing possible on St. Croix?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Without being offensive, might I ask you to explain the religious aspect of only going with your wife, children and tour guide? I'm very curious about this.

Thanks for the insight!

I would say that most snorkeling sites in St Croix are generally uncrowded, especially on weekdays. However, you have to keep in mind that most good snorkeling, if not all, is off the shore and since all our beaches are public, there is never any guarantee that there will be no one else at that particular spot. Buck Island is popular, but the charters that go out there are large operations. You try calling up some operators (maybe someone else can give specific names??) and ask to do a private charter at a weird time of day like really early in the morning. You may also want to inquire at the dive shops--smaller ones with 6-pack boats that you could charter (N2 the Blue, Scubawest, Cane Bay come to mind). They could take you to sites further offshore where there might not be many chances of seeing other people--but since the corals and fishes are deeper the farther out you go, you may not see a whole lot. It probably won't be cheap though, if you do some sort of private charter/guide.

I'm as curious as Dylan in asking what religious preferences have to do with snorkelling adventures. Again, just curious!

For instance, if there's any sort of a drinking or dietary issue, most charters can be accomodating.

To be honest, STX isn't renown for great snorkelling. My many ST Croix friends know what I mean. Buck Island is really terrific but is not always deserted and, again, your question where religion is concerned is a bit confusing. If you're Saudi and your wife is required to wear the abaya and accoutrements, those are generally stripped when entering the Western world,

I think you will get much more response if you simply explain what religious preferences of yours have to be met in order for you to enjoy yourself. The US Virgin Islands are a multinational, religious and ethnic melting pot both historically and presently. There are bigoted idiots here as everywhere else but their voice is small indeed.

Open up right here and you will be politely given advice. Cheers!

I assume that the poster's religion, including Christian fundamentalists and some Jewist sects, does not allow women to be partially clothed and that swimsuits, even modified, would be inappropriate but speculation doesn't answer the question for the poster.
Agreed that snorkeling is not great on St. Criox compared to St. Thomas and St. John and most report that Buck Island is the best but a quick search on Google shows Renegade and Flyer as offering private charters. There are most likely others but maybe a contact with them would help or they could refer you to someone else or as stxem suggests, one of the dive ships . If you are staying in a villa, you might contact the manager who could suggest some referrals/

I would disagree that snorkeling is not as good on STX as STT. Of course, STJ has the best, IMO.
