Hello USVI community,

I'm part of a secret mission to plan a fantastic 'Surprise' 50th birthday week on St. Croix!

One of my tasks is to find a boat/ship to take 14 adults around to tour some of the islands.
(hoping to enjoy cocktails on-board and at various island stops all day!)

Monday Dec. 5th we would like to hire a captain to take us safely from St. Croix to various islands.

We've been told nobody out of St. Croix can do this, but get to 'Red Hook' on St. Thomas and try to book something from there.

Can anyone help with contact names or suggestions for booking this special request?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Frank Buck

Apart from Buck Island there are no "various islands" around STX to visit. Not sure if you realize what the distance is between STX and STT. To get to Red Hook you'd have to take a flight to STT (Cape Air and Seaborne have regular flights but you should check prices. They're around $150 pp RT)) and then taxi to Red Hook ($11 pp each way). There are a few boats which could accommodate your group (around $150pp ) but first decide if the expense isn't prohibitive. If it's not then I'm sure you'll get some good suggestions. Hope that helps a little. Cheers!

That information was helpful. My friend who is paying for it.....did this island hop over 20 years ago.
Here is what we are looking for:

St. Croix ferry to Red Hook on St. Thomas....Private boat hire for 14 adults....Boat to Jost Van Dyke and then to Virgin Gorda for a visit to ‘The Baths’
I’ve been told it would take about- 1hr from Red Hook Jost Van Dyke. Next trip would take about 1.5 hours to Virgin Gorda and the baths. Finally about 2 1/2 hours from baths back to Red hook. Ferry back to St. Croix.

The ferry from STX to STT for a day trip won't work for the day trips to BVI. You might want to check with Seaborne Airlines for a group rate to fly over on the first flight. There's another airline that flies to STT, so you should check with them, too. Flying is so much more fun than the ferry!

Even if the STX-STT ferry was reliable, and it's renown for not being so, its schedule wouldn't fit in with your plans. It leaves STX at 10AM (see ferry schedule under "Quick Links" top right this page) which would get you to the waterfront STT (not Red Hook) 45 minutes later if it's on time. Taxi to Red Hook at least 30 minutes. Last ferry back to STX 4:15PM. Not doable at all, sorry!
