I'm pretty bummed out, the villa we normally rent on STJ in Coral Bay on Calabash Boom is booked in 2008 for the week we go (our anniversary). I know there are a ton of topics on villas on this board however I was looking to see if anyone has any personal suggestions regarding a villa on STJ in the Coral Bay area. Things we like about the one we normally rent: It's very private, very clean, has a pool and hot tub, has a fun road to drive on up to it, overlooks the ocean from up on the mountain, has an outdoor shower, has everything and anything you could possibly want in the kitchen (blender, coffee maker, etc.) and it's just heaven and the TV doesn't get any channels 🙂 It's just the two of us and we would like to keep the week long rental around $3000.00 but are open to suggestions. Anyone have any fantastic villas they'd like to recommend? I'm hoping that not everyone will keep their favorite villa a secret 🙂 Thanks, Jill

Take a look at Calabash Cottages. No pool, but everything else you want.

Contact Windspree.com and some other on island agents and see what they have to choose from for your time frame. There's lots out there it just takes some research.

What month are you looking to travel - high or low season - as that will let us know the price range of the villas we can suggest and do you want to stay in Coral Bay???
When you say a "fun" road do you mean fun because it's paved or fun because it's not 🙂

We recently rented from Cloud Nine Villas and were very happy with the experience. They have a villa that is out near Vie's and Haulover Bay, so that may be too far out for you, but it looks beautiful and is in your price range (or close, depending on the exact dates).

I've never seen the villa but we had a great experienced with Marcy and Cloud Nine when we rented Moonsong in the Chocolate Hole area so I'm sure that Pebble Cove will be clean and well maintained.

We love the Coral Bay area too. This past February we stayed at Great Turtle Villa; it has some of your requirements, but not all. We found it to be a very private and relaxing villa. I believe it is about one year old, which was evident in its pristine condition. I refuse to stay in a villa without A/C in the bedrooms, yet we never turned on the A/C for the entire 8 nights we were there because of the heavenly breezes up on the mountainside. It is located on Carolina Ridge, about 5 minutes from Coral Bay and 25 minutes from Cruz Bay.
It is $2800.00 for one to two bedrooms in the low season then jumps to $3800.00 for the same in high season.
We have also stayed at One Particular Harbor in Coral Bay, but Great Turtle gets our vote as the better of the two....mia.

We really liked Sea Spirit. It is ideal for two, as private as one could wish. Great views, no pool, but close to some fantastic beaches. The rate is roughly half of what you said you had budgeted. The cottage (villa?) is off the Salt Pond road, about a half-mile up a dirt road. No other houses in sight, only National Park and blue ocean.

Another place that has everything you mentioned and a lot more is Memory Daze. It is not as far from Coral Bay. I think the rental for a week is around $3000. Both villas have web sites with pictures that give you a good feel for the place. Just Google "Memory Daze, St John" or "Sea Spirit, St John". Both sites have an availablity calendar as well as rates for high and low season. There is information on both places also on this web site.

Good luck.

Pia,
Thanks for responding. February is the month we go so that's high season. As for "fun" road, either paved or not doesn't matter, we like traveling on the windy twisty unpaved road of Calabash Boom. I guess what we really like is the fact that the villa we previously rented is up on the top of the mountain away from the main roads and we get the maximum views of the ocean and the surrounding islands. We like tranquil out of the way places and don't mind rough roads as we always rent a soft sided jeep wrangler 4x4. Thanks again, Jill
