Good afternoon! Just trying to put the final touches on my trip so I have the most LIMIN time as possible 😎 I've heard about how great the Point Udall area is at sunrise, but if my goal was just to see it and say I've been there is it really that bad to stop there say around 4 p.m.? Is it at least still somewhat pretty at that hour?
It's our favorite beach in the afternoon, actually. It's beautiful that time of day, not crowded at all. I wouldn't say as much for swimming as just sitting and enjoying the view. I like to imagine I see Africa on the horizon...(ok not really, ha ha!). 🙂 But sometimes when the air is clear you can see STT and STJ and other islands. I think that time of day is perfect.
Thank you very much JuileKay! Sounds like I will be doing it then! 🙂
I was on St. Croix in October when the sunrise was at 6:15, and I was staying at Carambola, which is around a 50 minute drive from Point Udall. Waking up before 5:00 on vacation so that I could drive for nearly an hour to watch the sunrise just wasn't that appealing to me. I still wanted to say I had been to the eastern-most point of the US, so I went one afternoon when I was already in christiansted. It was still a 20-25 minute drive, but I'm glad I did it. My wife and I were the only people there for the time we stayed, and as JulieKay suggested the view seemed to go on forever. I also got to stop and take a picture of the Very Long Baseline Array satelite on the drive back.
I took these two 360s at Point Udall:

As you can see lovely just about any time of day. 🙂
This pic is taken at Point Udall in the afternoon.
You descide weather to go or not to go in the afternoon... 😉
