I know, I know...Why, oh, why would anyone want to spend time by the pool when there are so many fabulous beaches to explore? But, sometimes my daughter likes a pool.

What resorts on STT wouldn't mind my daughter and I stopping by for a dip, though we aren't guests? I have yet to stay anywhere that enforces any kind of "guest only" policy, so I assume we're ok anywhere. But, if there's a place that we should avoid, please advise. I promise to spend money at the bar and grill (painkillers and chicken nuggets)...ok?

Hello Bluwater,

The only resort on St. Thomas that I have ever gotten a yes from is Emerald Beach Resort in terms of using the pool, however they did add that they would like you to buy drinks/food. Now a few weeks ago a cruise passenger indicated that the front desk folks at Emerald told her she couldn't use the pool. So I'd recommend calling to double check.

I haven't checked Sapphire myself but was told that they also are welcoming to non-guests in terms of pool usage.

Mariott, Ritz Carlton and Secret Harbor - I have called and they said no for the pool.

Westin Resort on St. John, 2 out of 3 people I have spoken to at the resport said no. One said yes but couldn't tell me when and said its yes only sometimes.

Wyndham and Elysian - I haven't checked.

I have been told by a few visitors that they had lunch, drinks and just used the pool and weren't asked anything at various resorts (ones that when I called, said no).

Thank you Islander. Your response is kind of what I was expecting - the fact that they say "no" officially. I can say that I have been a guest at all of the resorts mentioned, except SH and Westin - and have seen non-guests using the pool at them all.

I wonder if the guests at Sugar Bay wear wrist bands and how that pool is managed - being that it's all AI resort.

You could swim at the pool at point pleasant. it's on fungi's roof. since it's not really a hotel layout more condo-like no one would even know if you're staying there. Besides, I've never seen anyone in it so you basically have it to yourself and I think the only employees that are around is the receptionist & housekeepers.

You could swim at the Frenchman's w/o any worries. My wife and I stayed a week there earlier in the year and no one checks to see if you are staying there while you are at the pool. There pool is very nice and a good place to watch the cruise ships leave in the evening. They feed the iguanas every day at 2:30pm pool side, there are about 40 of them that come and eat.
