Hi. Five years ago we spent the day on STJ and I vowed to go back some day. Well, the day is here and I am planning a week vacation on STJ!!

I have a couple of questions for all you knowledgable people.

First, we're thinking of either the last week in June or the second week in August. Any pros or cons for either?? How much would Carnival effect the crowds during the last week in June?

Second, after hours of research, we have narrowed our villa search to the following 4:
1. Villa Catalina
2. Coconuts
3. Ilios
4. Mar de Amores

Does anyone have any input on any of them?

We are a family of 4 (11 and 13 year old kids). We would like to have access to a pool.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I favor June over August. August is nearer the tropical storm period and the June/July Carnival celebrations are really a great way to 'sse' STJ. My family loved the Food Fair and Panorama day celebrations and it gave us a real flavor of the island culture. Crowds are relative and while you notice their are more people, it is nothing comapred to cruise ships or shopping on STT.

Can't provide feedback on your list of villas although they all look nice. We used CV when we rented Second Wind and were very pleased. My experience is the photos rarely tell the true story (reality is always better). Talk to CV management and ask if the villa is exposed to or sheltered from the trade wind breezes. If exposed, you do not have to worry about being 'blown away' but rather the breeze will help to cool you and make you less dependent upon AC. If sheltered, you will need to make sure the bedrooms have AC and depending upon family tolerance, may need more rooms cooled.
