Hi every one. I have a few questions that I'm pretty sure has been asked a tousand times, so please be patient with me.
My husband and I are heading to St Thomas for 7 to 10 days. Our trip is schedualed for March of 2007. I know that is a long way off. We are looking for a small intimate bed and breakfast or hotel that wont break the bank. Does anyone have any ideas for us?
Thanks
Ronda J

Galleon House Hotel. Right downtown behind Herve and next to Gov House free breakfast, pool, nothing fancy but reasonable rates.

We are taking our first trip this April to St. Thomas and renting a condo that was listed in Foders under bed and breakfast. The condo is oceanfront on the East End of the island next to the Ritz Carlton. I booked it last August so I took advantage of last years rates but I think it is very reasonable. The owner lives on the island, working as a wedding coordinator. The condo is rented to non-smoking adults only. It is called Caribbean Style - Cabrita Point Condos. Here is the web site. Watch for my trip report after Easter.

Ronda, go to WWW.Frommers.com and you will find a very good list of hotels, condos, ect. When you finish there click on the moving guide at the top of the VINOW home page for more interesting reading. Don't forget to try search words on both boards for some great past posts on both of these boards.

Thanks everyone. Another question we had was dining. We have heard some stories from freinds who have taken cruises that stopped on island for the day. Is it realy as expensive as they say?

Ronda:

Lodging......pick a "nice" place. Saving a "few" dollars per night could be the difference between a "really bad" experience and a "really good" experience....especially if you're going to be spending 7-10 nights there.

Dining.....expensive?....it depends...staying in a hotel room and purchasing 3 meals a day could be expensive. Staying in a condo where you can prepare breakfast and picnic lunches would probably be less expensive. Dining out could cost $100. per person for dinner at a really nice place or $10.00 for a deluxe burger & fries at a local's place.

Transportation....if you're spending that much time on island then definately rent a car. Taxis are very expensive.

Starting point....read through the many "good advice" postings on this board....and since your trip is so far away keep exploring on the net.

Hope this helps.

I talked to the proprietor of Bella Vista about a week ago, hoping to get a room there this year. She had nothing available for when I was going, but was super great to talk to on the phone, and her property looks awesome. I would definitely include Bella Vista on your short list.

I've also had people on this board recommend the Crystal Palace, which if you go to their web site also looks great.

Hi again. I have looked at all the suggestions and have some realy good leads. I have a question about one I found online though. Does anyone know anything about a place called the "green iguana???" I think that is the name. A buisness assosiate stayed there a little while back and had good things to say.
Thanks again
