To anyone who is interested, I've finally gotten a gallery of photos together from our last trip to St. John. My wife and I have been three times in the past 18 months - but this time, we took the kids with us! My 11 and 8 year old daughters absolutely loved the trip, and my 4 month old son seemed to have a blast as well.
I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed the trip. We can't wait to get back.
The gallery can be seen here:

Your pictures are absolutely awesome! I looked at the ones from your previous trips and the underwater ones as well. Thank you for sharing them with us!
PS My heart did skip a beat tho, when I saw the one with your 4-month-old sitting in his seat by the pool! It looked as if he could tumble right over into the pool! (and then I saw a pic of the pool from another angle and felt better)
Hi Ken,
Completely wonderful pictures. I especially like the one with the little girl in the pink bathing suit looking out at the water. It reminds me of my daughter who spends lots of time doing that on our trips down. Wondering where you stayed? Those pictures were fantastic in the villa. What a great view!
Thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks! Yes, that thing my 4 month old was sitting in is called a "Bumbo" seat. It is fantastic - extremely stable and it lets little ones sit up (when they don't have the ability to on their own). We stayed in the villa "Ambiance" rented through Destination St. John.

Awesome pictures.....
My favorite is of your 4 mo old son being held up to the left of the picture with his big belly hanging out and the hat he as on.....just adorable!!!!! lol
Awesome!
Your pictures are awesome! What kind of camera did you use?
Thanks, Terry. I use a Canon 10D. It is a big, heavy digital SLR. Kind of a pain to haul all the way there (especially with the kids), but I enjoy the results I get with it. The lens for most of these shots was a wide angle zoom (Canon 17-40mm f/4) with a polarizing filter.

Loved the pictures... couldn't place all of the beaches, so I'm sure some are ones that I missed. All the more reason to return!
Your photos were wonderful! Were some of them taken at Scott Beach? Brings back beautiful memories....
Most of the pictures were from Honeymoon, Trunk, and Jumbie. With the three kids in tow, we didn't get to some of the harder to reach beaches. I've never been to Scott beach - maybe next time we return. Thanks!

BEAUTIFUL pictures!!
I'm jealous that you have such a great camera...but also glad I didn't have to lug it around on my trip there in July 🙂
This year was the first time I took a digital camera...I was so worried about ruining it by getting sand on it. I thought about buying a wide angle lens, but didn't end up doing it...though I did go with a polarizing filter this year.
I recognized all the beaches....I miss St. John so much already, and we just left less than a month ago.
Again, GREAT pictures!
Editing to say that after a second look, you are clearly very talented in photography! Impressive!
Might I ask how your 8 & 11 yearls did, and what they did for excitement??? I have 9 & 12 year old girls and would love to take them. I've been to STJ, but the wife & girls haven't. They think that they'll like Orlando better, and I'm having a hard time convincing them that we should go to STJ. I need help. Unfortunately, the girls think that Mr. Disney will entertain them better than the water & beaches in the USVI.
Thanks. Tom Mann. Athol, Massachusetts.
For reference only, I've stayed at Villa Cielomar, and been a daytime guest at Eden's Whim, if anyone needs a "trip report" on either of those places.
Tom,
Most of the time, they were either at the beach or swimming in the villa pool. During the summer, they practiced snorkeling at the pool here in our hometown (Cincinnati). Once we got there, my 11 year old took right to the water with mask and fins. My 8 year old was terrified of the fish the first day. I put her on a raft so her body was out of the water and let her dip her mask in. Within an hour, she was swimming all over by herself. She and my older daughter swam out and around Trunk Cay with no help from anyone our second day there (I was with them, but I never touch either of them). They saw eels, barracuda, rays, turtles, and every kind of reef fish imaginable. They'll never forget it.
We also took some puzzles, books, etc. I was also worried about them getting bored, but it just didn't happen. The other thing the really enjoyed was climbing around on the rocks at the beaches - particularly Francis, Jumbie, and Hawksnest. Good times all around - I don't think you'll have any problem once you get there.
