Hi Looking for someone to provide some photography lesson for my wife while we are in st. john on vacation. Does anyone know someone who provides lessons?
Right now, I'm taking group lessons from Steve Rockstein every Tues night on St Thomas at Seven Minus Seven Gallery in Subbase in St Thomas. This week's lesson is lighting, and we're supposed to take photos to review in class next week of backlighting, sidelighting, and frontlighting (I may not have the terminology right, but I know what my homework is!)
I took his class, because it was more than just learning how to get your pictures from camera to computer, etc. I have a Canon point and shoot, and am considering upgrading to a DSLR. Steve prefers Canons, so I figured he'd be my go-to guy if I decided to go the DSLR route after taking the class. His class focuses more on composition, and that's really what I wanted to learn.
I saw that St John School of the Arts was offering a photography series this season, but it was geared, in my opinion, to those new to digital photography. From what I remember, they were going to cover how to get your pictures from camera to computer, how to print, etc, and I already know how to do that.
Steve Simonsen (sp?) on St John has taught some photography classes that have been very well received, but I don't see that he's got any scheduled currently. Someone told me that his workshops consisted of going out several times in the day, taking photos, and then reviewing them before going out again. I'd love to do that with him/you, so if you have a definite date, maybe we can arrange a "private" class if he doesn't have a public one scheduled!
But. I think you need to be more specific about what you're hoping to learn. Please elaborate!
Thanks!
