I am moving down to Saint Thomas in about a month. I have almost everything figured out (thanks to this site) except my babies. I have two macaws and a great dane. How do I ship the family down with the least amount of trauma?

I have no idea about shipping, but I'm sure someone else will post about that...but finding a place to live that will take the 2 birds and a dog that size? That's going to require some time and effort on your part......I would plan on coming alone, then bringing them once you have a place secured...

Thanks for the note Marty. I have a place to stay. And I actually just spoke with the vet and am now in contact with a new company called Airpropel. They are very helpful and are working on getting the kids here on island.

Here is the link.... If anyone else has a zoo at home...

Some birds, if not all, require a permit. Have to fill out an application and pay a small fee to the Dept. of Agriculture. Application has to also be approved by the Division of Fish and Wildlife. The process can take a couple weeks. Contact the Department of Agriculture at (340)774-5182 for more information and to request the application forms.
