We are cruising in March, docking in Crown Bay, is it possible to go to Peters Island.
A friend who is cruising with me mentioned that was a recomendation. I told her I thought Peters Island was an all inclusive resort and we couldn't visit. Thanks!

If you were stopping on Tortola, it would be more realistic to visit Peter Island for the day but from St. Thomas, it is not that accessable. Peter Island has a ferry from RoadTown, Tortola, and for the price of the PIR ferry you can use the facilities there. I have no idea what the fare is now but not too long ago it was $7 but if you were going for dinner, there was no charge. You might be able to water taxi or helicopter from STT but it would be very pricey for a day trip. You might enjoy Water Island's Honeymoon beach which is easily accessed from Crown Bay but there are no "facilities" there nor the resort amenitites available at other beaches. Some of the charter day trips do stop at Peter Island or nearby and also head to the Baths on Virgin Gorda for snorkeling so you may want to look into those and see if their schedules fit your docking times. .

Thanks Karen, any idea on a charter that would go to Peters Island or Jost Van Dyke. Have always wanted to go to Foxys and the Soggy Dollar Bar.

Lindy: I have a feeling that doing the BVI on a cruise to St Thomas would be difficult because of the time. There are some day trips to Jost, but they probably leave too early. Why not enjoy the USVI on this trip and plan a nice long stay and tour of the BVI later?

Really have to agree with East Ender. Spend your time enjoying the USVI and then when you come back for a longer stay you can kick up your heels a bit and head to the BVI on day trips. The cruise ship timetable might not make for the most enjoyable relaxing day. And there is so much to see and enjoy not only on St. Thomas but St. John which is really more "do-able" than the BVI when you are cruising. There are several day charters which work with the cruise ships for half or even full day sails with snorkeling and stops at beaches which are unaccessable from land, beaches to explore, shopping to do and you will want to do it at "island time" and not be pressured by a tight time schedule . .

Thanks guys for your advice. We will probably go to Maegans Bay or Saphire or hit St. John, Caneel Bay or Westin. Thanks again
