Hello all from a new guy,
I have read all the FAQs and searched by these phrases with no luck. I have been taking care of both of my parents with terminal illnesses over the last 10+ years. I have gained weight and lost some muscle tone over the years. At some point in the future I hope to spend about 6 months in and around the USVI.
I would like to find a health club with a personal trainer so that I can lose the weight and regain physical health. Do any of the major hotels have health / fitness centers on their premises?
I have also read about car rentals, scooters, bike rentals and purchasing a car on the islands. Are the hills really so steep that bicycling is that difficult? I didn't see any mention of bike paths, lanes, or trails and only a bike tour of Water Island. Is bicycling an acceptable way to travel?
Also prior to having to postpone my life to become my parents caregiver I was heavily into SCUBA diving. I had enough credits / certifications to become a diving instructor but never took the test ( PADI ). I would like to get a part time job during my stay at a dive shop to help support my income. Is there a fairly high turnover of employees at dive shops or are most longtime island residents with no real chance of temporary employment by someone from the mainland US?
My second option for employment would be possibly at the Cyril E. King Airport or one of the charter air service(s). I have 31 years experience in aerospace parts manufacturing in mid and upper level management positions. Is there any kind of maintence performed by the major airlines at Cyril King?
I understand I have asked quite a few questions for my first posting. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Ken
