I was thinking of sending son and new wife to pavilions and pools for honeymoon. Is this a good choice? Are there good restuarants and beaches close to hotel.

Good beaches and restuarants are everywhere. My wife and I honeymooned at Pavilions and Pools and loved it. We had a great view of St. John and a small private pool that we enjoyed completely. We were very much into privacy and spending time with each other as well as exploring St. Thomas and St. John. If your son and his wife are looking for a place with a lot of night life and a beach front than Pavilions and Pools is not for them. If they are looking for a quiet place for some privacy and romance then they might enjoy it as much as we did. Sapphire Beach is a quick 5 minute walk but everythingelse is a car ride or taxi ride away.

Hello Gordon,

Rick accurately describes it - if the newly weds want a private place, their own private pool, quiet - this is a great choice. If they want beach front and more active accomodations (beach bar, restaurant, watersports) you will need to make another choice. They will need to rent a car to explore the island or use taxis to get around, nothing is really comfortable walkable distance here - lots of hills, blind corners, no sidewalks but the East End has lots of beaches, restaurants, bars, ferry to St. John, charters that are quite close but require a car/taxi for a short 6-10 minute drive depending on where they are going on the East End. And 15-25 minutes to beaches like Magens Bay or to get to town.
