I think I found the cove today. The beach I think you described is Beauregard Beach (also called Grotto Beach). It's just west of the Buccaner Hotel, is about a half mile long, is very nice, and is usually empty. The cove I found is at Shoy Point, just east of the Buccaner beach. Hole number 3 of the Buccaner golf course is up on the point. The cove is somewhat split down the middle by rocks, so it's almost like two coves. There is a small tidal pool in front of it. You can climb down to it from hole number 3 or scale along the rocks close to the water. Just to the east of Shoys point is a nice, small, unused beach that's part of the Buccaner Hotel.

Does this sound right?

Ohioguy,

I'm not sure if that is where I'm thinking about. I'm almost positive we went farther down on East end to one of the beaches there. I believe some people would even nude bath there. It's all so long ago now, I was 16 and this was back in the 70's... so my memory's alittle fuzzy---but I don't remember being anywhere near the Buccaneer--or where you could see it anyway. This was a long deserted east end beach and we walked along the top of a ridge that you could get to by walking up a hill adjoining this beach. The ridge *seemed* about 25ft or more high and had a path that you followed along the top of the ridge and very close to the edge for about 5 minutes until you reached the end. Here's where the pool was-- you jumped down about 4 feet into the water-- with the cave in back. The scary part was trying to get back up on the path out of the water! Had to just get a toe hold and climb up. Did you see anything like this on the SE side of the island? We were riding horses and since it was my first riding experience I was more concerned with staying on (no saddle!) than noticing if we were going north or south--- but I definately know we were on the east end! I'm sorry not to be more help. It sounds like you're having a ball discovering the island! My dad was like that when we lived there--every weekend we got out and explored the island, just had a great time. You really appreciate the beauty and people more--- plus I have such great memories...

Now if I could just remember exactly where that pretty little pool was!

Keep us posted on your fun times there-------Paula

It sounds like the cove might be around Issac or Jack bays. They are or were known as deserted nudist beaches. I'll look again down the road and report back.

Okay! I wish I could remember exactly where it was more clearly--- but it was only 1 day waaaaaay back in the 70's! I wish I'd gone back with my family .
