For those who have been following the Lindberg Bay dumping, there is a party scheduled on the beach at Lindbergh on August 8 from noon to four. Bands food etc.... Buy a Save Lindbergh Bay T-shirt. All proceeds go to pay the legal costs of fighting to save this bay from the toxic dumping planned by WICO and VIPA at the behest of Royal Caribbean. Hope to see you all there.
If you haven't been following this, the current plan is to dredge Charlottte Amalie harbor and dump the toxic dredge in Lindbergh Bay. By the way a leatherback turtle laid her eggs there a couple of weeks ago so now the plan is to dump this cr#p in an endangered species breeding ground.
Hi Friends,
Most of you, to one degree or another, DO support NO DUMPING IN LINDBERGH BAY...but what about REALLY doing something about it??
Come out next Saturday for a wonderful day at the beach...enjoy music, food, drink...and get a "Lucky Lindy" t-shirt....Lindy is the Leatherback mother who laid her nest right in front of the Beachcomber Bar!!!! ...and LIVE MUSIC all afternoon!!!
Doesn't look like anything other than divine intervention to me!!!! As an endangered species, we can't do ENOUGH to help her and others like her (the nest on Brewers Bay, for example!)
And...dumping poisonous dredge spoils in Lindbergh Bay WILL NOT HELP HER or HER BABIES~!
Please come...and have fun!
12:00 Aben Marrero
1:00 Tim West and Friends
2:00 Becca Darling Band
3:00 Mighty Whitey
how can we donate or buy a t-shirt if we can't be down there?
PM me
I just signed the petition online and it was very very easy to do. BUT....if I read that right is the Army Corps of Engineers involved in this? Our condo association in NJ just went through something similar and we fought it and fought it. They actually lied to us about a few things which we have on paper, but they continued doing there work. Seriously, it's almost impossible to fight the ACE.
I am getting many requests for T-shirts on my facebook page from those that will not be able to attend, is there a way that these folks can order a T? I see nothing about this on your link!
I just got 2 t-shirts tonight. They will be available on Saturday at the party; they are really nice, you will want to be there. We will see if there are any left over.
I am planning on going for sure, but I have been asked by other forum friends on my fb to buy T's for them, hope I won't be limited as to how many T's I can get! See you there!
The plane lands at 11 am, and John, Lara and I will be at Lindbergh as soon as we pick up the car. Where, exactly, on Lindbergh is it happening? In the area by the playground?
Party is being sponsored by Emerald Beach and Beachcomber. The leatherback turtle laid her eggs right in front of the bar at the Beachcomber and the area is now roped off. Look forward to seeing everyone there. Should be lots of fun and for a good cause. T-shirts are for sale now at Emerald Beach.
I read this in the Source: http://stthomassource.com/content/commentary/op-ed/2009/07/31/environmental-group-wants-st-thomas-harbor-dredgings-st-croix
Apparently SEA, an environmental organization, has asked that the dredgings be brought to St. Croix where it can be used beneficially.
Is there any possibility of it happening?
Gerie,
See you there! Any others from the forum?
(bump) PARTY TOMORROW!!

She will also speak on the recent Lindbergh Beach nesting of the endangered 600 pound leatherback turtle named "Lindy".

Gerie,
Was so glad I got to see you at the Rally, yes, sorry I was just getting there when you were leaving, but hey, I got to see you!
I was a little disappointed in the turn out for the rally. I can only hope that many more people attended after I left.
Sailing the VI, what was your take?
